The Portsmouth Bench began as a commission to design choir stalls for Portsmouth Cathedral. Barber & Osgerby took advantage of solid oak’s inherent strength to create thin sections in their design. This gives the bench a sense of reduction.

The Portsmouth Bench is intended to be neither strikingly contemporary, nor obviously traditional but to compliment historic and modern interiors alike. The Portsmouth Bench is available with or without a backrest.

All Portsmouth Benches receive a hand-applied, low-sheen finish for a long-lasting protection that preserves the woods inherent look and feel.

Alternatively, a hardwax oil finish is available on request.
