The remarkably light Isokon Stool is constructed from a single thickness of veneer. Despite its minimal material, the stool is exceptionally strong and durable. The stool is one of the earliest designs from Isokon and was first seen in use at The Isobar Restaurant and Club at Lawn Road Flats.
The design is unattributed and likely to have been the ingenious work of an unnamed workshop employee. In a later adaptation, a tray was designed to fit neatly on top of the stool, creating a useful side table.
Designed in 1933.
