The Short Chair is a sister design to Marcel Breuer’s acclaimed Long Chair. Following the successful launch of the Long Chair, a year later Breuer produced a template for a smaller, more space-efficient version. The Short Chair therefore shares the same design principle; a thin and curvaceous seat supported between two arms, but with a shorter seat. Just like the Long Chair, the Short Chair quickly became an iconic design and statement of Modernism. Breuer cited it as his favourite Isokon product. Isokon continues to produce the Long and Short Chairs according to Breuer’s original designs.
